What it means to love

I’ve spent the past 6 years in a relationship with the same man.

And it hasn’t been without its problems.

What I’ve learned is that there is no “one” right way to be with someone.

And that most of our deepest judgments against our partner are really against ourselves.

If I had to impart a single piece of knowledge onto my fellow man it would be:

Relationships are a testament to how much you love yourself. The greater the love you find within, the less your partner seems to annoy you. And when the question of if you should part arises, the decision can be made without fear.

People break up for fear that someone disrespected them, took advantage of them, didn’t appreciate them, and the list continues.

But when you find a place of inner peace, confidence and love, the world slows down, it no longer caves in on you and your options expand.
